The humans of Presence tend to make a splash when they join our team.
As an industry-leading student engagement platform for student affairs professionals, we’ve experienced immense growth since we started three years ago.
We were lucky enough to recently hire and onboard Zack Holloway, our newest Backend Engineer.
Here’s a little bit about Zack!
Zack attended the University of Central Florida where he obtained his undergraduate degree in Business Management. As a native Floridian, Zack is happy to call The Sunshine State home. While in college, Zack became interested in education through a variety of volunteer roles. As an undergraduate, he taught kindergarten and worked as a teaching assistant for middle and high school English classes. After graduating, he moved into teaching high school English and Math full-time.
Zack was exposed to software development as a career path at a young age, as his father has always worked in the software industry. He pursued his interest in the ed tech sector and applied to The Iron Yard in St. Petersburg, Florida where he and C# became BFFs ❤️ After 12 intense weeks, he presented the website he built from the ground up focused on Fantastic Fest, a film festival in Austin, Texas. A few members on our team were able to catch Zack’s presentation and were excited about his work!
In his own words, here’s why Zack is excited to be a part of the Presence team:
I’ve always been interested in making the higher ed experience less abstract and more focused on applicability/real life skills. The thing that drew me to Presence was that we are giving schools access to data that they can use to make informed decisions to positively affect the student experience and create more student involvement.
My favorite thing about Presence so far is that everyone seems genuinely excited about the quality of services we are delivering to our customers. It’s great to be part of a team that knows its product is great and takes pride in pushing its quality higher and higher.
Outside of Work
When he’s not coding, Zack can be found playing the drums or watching the latest horror film — his favorite horror movie being John Carpenter’s The Thing. He loves to invite friends for the ultimate movie night with his projector and screen setup.
We’re excited to get to know more about Zack (and hear his critiques on the latest blockbusters) ?
