Today is a big day for the Check I’m Here community.
Check I’m Here is now Presence.
Since launching the company in May 2014, we have grown to nearly 100 colleges in over 30 states and three countries. Three years later, and we believe in our mission more than ever, inspired by the campus partners and community we have the privilege to work alongside.
When we first started, it made sense for our name to be Check I’m Here. As we continue to expand our software, we realized we needed a name that better represents the value our software provides, and embodies our team’s creativity and culture.
Our mission is to solve the toughest problems around student engagement and success. Today, we’ve grown exponentially from where we started and our brand needs to reflect our here and now, and our future. We provide a software platform that directly relates to the outcomes of higher education by helping campuses utilize data to create connections between engagement, retention and persistence, and most importantly, learning.
The state or fact of existing, occurring, or being present in a place or thing
We used Creative Problem Solving methodology (CPS) to come up with the name, asking all of our team members to weigh in. We reflected on how we actively work to build software that mirrors our values, and those of our campus partners: inclusion, streamlined communication, and transparency.
Everyone has a ‘Presence’. Whether a professional striving to grow an engaging campus community, or a student discovering their potential through involvement, our new identity encompasses the magnitude of what our software can facilitate for new generations.
The name Presence accurately represents what our company’s mission is all about: developing students’ skills through the co-curricular experience, increasing the reach and impact of campus programming, and ultimately measuring the holistic learning experience.
“In the three years we have been working together, they have constantly sought out new and innovative ways to improve their ability to support student engagement and assessment. The ideas they are working on for the next three years are exactly where we want to go as a department. The staff are always a pleasure to work with. Like literally, I end up with a smile on my face after every interaction. There is no way to understate how important that is to our daily work.”
-Aaron Miltenberger, Director of Student Life at Adams State University
We’re also excited to announce our next release of features and software upgrades that are most requested among student affairs professionals. It will be our largest improvement to date.
We exist to build the best student experiences at institutions worldwide. Helping student affairs professionals put their students first is what motivates us every day. In the coming months, we’re excited to be partnering with more campuses, adding even more features, and looking into future industry partnerships. Stay tuned!
